The hectic pre-production build up to the ultimate shoot ensured that the filming crew from Lens Box Media Works left no stone unturned on the real work day. The entire team, including Ashutosh, Pratik, Komal and the couple, who were about to face the camera, all started early in the morning. Around 6:30 – 7 AM, the crew started filming in Navi Mumbai area at Parsik Hill where the beautiful sunrise scene was captured. Location then shifted to Joggers Park where again the actors got ready and shot many sequences.

The action went around the day where the team constantly shifted locations – Café, Jewel of Navi Mumbai etc. to complete crucial sequences. Each location needed both of the actors to change costumes and apply makeup again but they never compromised on that. Recounts Komal, the costume head, “The clients were very much cooperative. There were times when the makeup used to wear off due to heat and all that had to be done over again. We also had to struggle to find places to change costumes, but they never got irritated.” The first day shoot ended with capturing the breathtaking sunset silhouettes of the couple, enhanced by use of props and bubbles floating in air.

Day 02 on, now the crew caught the early sunrise at the Mumbai’s iconic Gateway of India. After getting some mesmerizing shots there by DoP (Director of Photography) Ashutosh, all of them went to Bandra Bandstand for an important scene. Here the production team faced some permission issues, but later got those all cleared. The parade of shooting sequences went till evening, as the energetic team worked hard to cover cinematically good locations like Bandra-Worli Sealink, Girgaum Chowpatty and Marine Drive. There were several costume changes and few unwarranted breaks but that never dampened the spirit. The last location was the iconic CST station which looks absolutely stunning at night. Many photographs were clicked there of the couple. All the footage was taken into hard drives for post-production purposes and the team packed their bags for departure back to Pune.

Pratik, who was an AD and editor of the music video, recounts it as a ‘very fruitful and satisfying’ experience as most of the things went according to the plan. “I think it is all because of the pre-visualization and detailed planning of the whole film that everything just went so smoothly. We never really had to face any big issue while shooting” he says.

Elaborating on the post-production work on the project, Pratik adds, “It took me around 2 days to finish all things, including sequencing, syncing, fine-tuning, colour correction and adding motion graphics. Most of it was slow motion, so the real challenge was to sync it with the 3 minute song that was chosen by the clients.” Talking about the shoot, he recollects the patience and cooperation shown by the couple. “They were amazing. Even after not having any acting experience, they were always up for retakes. Initially it took some time to invoke that chemistry on-screen, but by Day 02 they were quite comfortable with crew and the whole action-to-cut process and the results are magical.” Pratik says exuberantly.

So, 2 gruelling days of shoots, 14 different locations across Mumbai and Navi Mumbai and equally done hard work on post-production. That wraps it all for the Mumbai Shooting Diaries. The video releases soon on our YouTube channel. Thank you for reading!
